A first-degree inequality is solved almost like an equation, but with one fundamental caveat: every time we multiply or divide by a negative number, we must reverse the inequality sign. In this section we see the equivalence principles, the most frequent mistake and some worked examples, including the first taste of a fractional inequality.

  • Equivalence principles and sign reversal
  • Examples of first-degree inequalities
  • First-degree fractional inequality
