Text
Sketch the graph of a function satisfying:
- (a)
- (b)
- (c)
- (d)
Solution
Reading:
- at the left () and right () limits are finite but different: there is a jump (first-kind discontinuity), no vertical asymptote;
- as the function diverges to ;
- as it tends to from above, so is a horizontal asymptote on the right, with the curve above the axis.
One possible graph: from the left it rises from up to height just before ; it jumps to right after and then descends toward staying positive. The solution is not unique.
