Pie chart

The pie chart represents the composition of a total by dividing a circle into slices proportional to the relative frequencies.

Definition — Pie chart

Each category occupies a slice of angle $\theta_i=h_i\cdot 360°$. Suitable for few categories ($\le 6$–$7$) and for exhaustive totals ($\sum h_i=1$). Not recommended for precise comparisons: the human eye judges angles poorly; for that a bar chart is better.
