Property — Opposite arcs: α-\alpha

sin(α)=sinα,cos(α)=cosα,tan(α)=tanα.\sin(-\alpha) = -\sin\alpha,\qquad \cos(-\alpha) = \cos\alpha,\qquad \tan(-\alpha) = -\tan\alpha. Geometrically: the point PαP_{-\alpha} is the mirror image of PαP_\alpha about the xx-axis. Abscissa unchanged, ordinate with its sign reversed.

These formulae express the fact that cos\cos is an even function and sin\sin (like tan\tan) is odd.
