The trapezium

The trapezium is the quadrilateral defined by a single parallelism condition: one pair of opposite sides parallel.

A trapezium is a quadrilateral with one pair of opposite sides parallel (called the bases).

• Isosceles trapezium: the oblique sides are congruent.
• Right trapezium: it has a right angle (and therefore a second right angle too).

Every parallelogram is a trapezium (with two pairs of parallel sides).

Property — Area of the trapezium

$\text{Area} = \frac{(\text{Base maggiore}+\text{Base minore})\cdot h}{2}$
