Solution

First one resolves the innermost brackets, then one proceeds according to the order of operations: $\begin{aligned} &= 1 \cdot 4 - [6 + 24 : 4] \\ &= 4 - [6 + 6] \\ &= 4 - 12 = \boxed{-8} \end{aligned}$
